Today, we continued watching The Usual Suspects in order to understand the true nature of a thriller. Afterwards we watched some of the previous year's thriller movies, with examples of a well shot composition and a poorly shot composition. I learnt that thrillers do not have to be scary in the way horrors are and do not have to make you jump, which was my previous misconception. I learnt that thrillers have questions that the audience ask and want answered. I also learnt that the simpler, slower paced pieces of film obtained the higher grades.
Next lesson (Monday, 08/02/2010) we are going to be choosing our groups so that we an begin planning our thrillers.
